Editing & Proofing

This editing package is ideal for authors who have not yet written their work and need editing and developmental support during the creation process, from concept and ideas to the final product.
Clients who purchase a developmental editing package will be assigned an editor to work with the client to develop a manuscript from initial concept, outline, or draft through the entire creation process, offering guidance and suggestions about content, flow and consistency, presentation, comparison to successful market competition, adherence to publisher's guidelines, and many other services.
Upon completion of the manuscript, the client will receive rewriting services, writing suggestions, a full substantive and line edit, final proofread and polish, and a full format of the manuscript so it is ready to submit to the publisher or printer of choice. Developmental editing includes substantive editing and line editing as part of the package.

This editing package is for an author or writer with a completed manuscript that is in rough form or in draft or unedited status and may require rewriting, rewriting suggestions, clarity and consistency checking, formatting, fact checking, and guidance on how to improve the overall manuscript for publication or submission.
This package is ideal for a new or inexperienced author who has a solid grasp of the mechanics of writing but needs further assistance with polishing to complete the manuscript per industry standards. The substantive editing package includes a full line edit and proofread, along with manuscript formatting and preparation so the manuscript is ready to submit to the publisher or printer of choice.
This package will be the most likely choice for authors or writers who have a completed manuscript but it has not been polished and professionally prepared for submission or publication. These services are provided on a contract basis to small and independent publishing houses as well as authors who choose to self publish, or for authors who want a polished manuscript to submit to a literary agent or major publisher. Substantive editing includes line editing as part of the package.

Line editing (sometimes called copy editing) is the final editing process for any manuscript and is included in both of the above packages. This package can be purchased individually for an experienced author with a strong grasp of writing mechanics and who does not wish rewriting, writing, or plot and storyline consistency checks.
With a full line edit, your editor will go through your manuscript or document line by line, word by word, and check for spelling, grammar, typos, missing words, punctuation and formatting issues, providing a polished and grammatically correct, error free manuscript, ready to submit to the publisher or printer of choice.
As a general rule, Accentuate Services will only accept a line editing project if we are familiar with the author's work or we receive a sample of the author's work and can verify there is no need for a substantive edit on the manuscript. This package is designed to polish an already self edited manuscript or to review another editor's work to provide an absolutely perfect copy, but does not provide any feedback on things such as plot, storyline, characters, consistency, etc.

Proofreading services are provided to clients who would like to compare typed or handwritten copy to retyped or typed copy to check for mistakes, typos, missing words, etc. If the document has not been retyped from another copy, line editing or substantive editing should be your choice.
Proofreading services are also offered to clients who have already purchased editing services through Accentuate Services to provide a final proof of the document after all editing changes have been made and approved by the author.
